mixwidget

Looking for a cool-looking way to showcase music on your website? Check out mixwidget - the open source mixtape.

Mixwidget.org was created by the founders of Mixwit, a digital mixtape service which sadly shut it's doors in December 2008, but they decided to take some time out to build a new mixtape widget for the open source community.

Twitter - ccMixterMusic

Are on Twitter? Are you a fan of ccMixter? If so then make sure to check out Twitter / ccMixterMusic.

Thanks to narva9 for taking the initiative. Help her spread the latest music and news from ccM by becoming a follower.

A Kaer Trouz Widget Album

A fan (me) made widget album of remixes of Kaer Trouz made with the Sprout Builder

Click the speaker to start, songs will auto-play through or use the "next" button, top right corner to click to the next track.

Sprout pt. 2

Continuing on from yesterday's post, I made the widget shown below again with Sprout.

Hit the remixes, samples or a cappellas tabs to keep up with the latest uploads. The RSS feeds take a second to load, please be patient.

It's cute, huh? ; )

Sprout

Built the Cool Music widget shown below with Sprout.

Sprout is the quick and easy way for anyone to build, publish, and manage widgets, mini-sites, mashups, banners and more. Any size, any number of pages. Include video, audio, images and newsfeeds and choose from dozens of pre-built components and web services.

Very easy to customize. Looks great (admittedly mine isn't all that). Works well with playlists, feeds, etc... Please note the widget above is a quick job and shows Cool Music episode #24 as an example. I can't figure out how to configure it to show a new show each week yet. :)

Mixwit - Integrated Search

From the Mixwit.blog:

We’re big fans of Creative Commons over here at Mixwit. That’s why I’m stoked to announce today that we’ve integrated ccMixter into our mixmaker. This means you can easily add any track you can find on ccMixter to any of your mixtapes....

Here's the Wired CD in mixtape form. Snazzy. : )

Flash MP3 Player

Flash-MP3 player by neolao production is a nice simple player that can be used on any website. "It's open source, free and customizable."

Shown above is the "Multi" track player linked to the RSS feed from duckett's page. There are five different sizes of player to choose from and a code generator for customizing.

Mixwit - mix tapes

I made the following mix at Mixwit, a really nifty way of sharing music on any website. Very conveniently you can enter individual links to mp3s or even use Seeqpod to find multiple tracks by artist name. Choose the music, customize your tape and presto, mix-tape.

Oh and remember to spell check (lol) because no matter how many times I've tried to fix it it still reads "fourtstones". Sorry. : (

Easylistener

In case you haven't come across it yet. The good folks at Yahoo have made an excellent flash player for streaming music.

Easylistener is a Flash music player which can literally play any page on the web. And it's a neat and easy way to share ccM playlists.

For example, for the playlist below I used the playlist page as the url: http://ccmixter.org/playlist/browse/1179

The Easylistener Code Creator did the rest. : )

netvibes

My favorite new web toy is netvibes. It's great for keeping track of all your favorite sites and organizing your RSS feeds. There are 1000's of Widgets, Tabs and Universes you can use to create your own personalized web based dashboard. Netvibes works great with ccMixter's feeds.

For those who have signed-up, I highly recommend mixter Citizen Nyx's awesome Tab which I use to keep track of everything ccMixter related.

Also according to the netvibes blog, the Universes are going public soon and I hope to see a ccMixter Universe soon. : )

Widgetbox Blidget

This is a blidget (which is a widget usually made of a blog) made at Widgetbox of the most popular remixes at ccMixter over the past 14 days. It's fed from the ccMixter query api so it's always up-to-date. If you have a web site, blog, Myspace or Facebook please feel free to share it. : )

And no. I haven't figured out a way to get it to play within the blidget yet. ; )

Animoto

Animoto: the end of slideshows

I thought somebody out there may find this interesting. Basically it claims to arrange pictures you upload, "feels your music" and generates it into a professional looking video. Take a look at the demo. And if you try it let me know how it goes. Thanks. : )

Free Online File Storage

I've been looking for something like this. myDataBus - free online file storage. It should come in handy for storage, back-up, hosting and sharing. There are ads on the Basic (free) account. The Pro ($10/year) account offers more storage and no ads.

Basic features include 5GB total/250 MB max file size, any file format/cross platform and integrated file conversion.

SpinXpress

SpinXpress is a media search tool for any kind of license. Traditional Copyright, Public domain, Creative Commons. Can you say handy? : )

Media searches three categories of information:

1. Repositories including archive.org, flickr.com and blip.tv

2. Sources that SpinXpress stores and updates periodically, including magnatune.com

3. Metadata collected from feeds including ccMixter, CC Hits, and Freevlog.

Flash MP3 Player

A cool and easy way to put music on the web. Flash MP3 Player by Jeroen Wijering. This player can be easily modified at myspacegens.com.

The above contains a playlist of ccMixter Club remixes.

Inkscape

Made these images with Inkscape an Open Source vector graphics editor. : )

Yourminis - MP3 Player

I think this is the coolest MP3 widget I've seen. Get it at Yourminis.com or hit "copy me" on the player below for the Ed picks from ccMixter.

Some Flash MP3 Players

Check out this MySpace MP3 Player!

Press play (the tiny button, bottom-middle). The tape wheels move!! This and a bunch of other neat flash MP3 players at myflashfetish.com and poqbum.com.
