The Secret Mixter is wrapped up! It was another creatively-expansive experience....and hearing the tracks is a sonic summer treat. We recommend listening to the entire Poolside Secret Mixter playlist, and definitely more than once!
Today assignments for the Poolside Secret Mixter went out to all the Mixters that signed up. Upload day is June 20 so mark your calendars - more than 40 tracks will uploaded that day...and we can't think of a better way to usher in the Summer Solstice (or Winter for the Southern Hemisphere).

Having played over 1600 gigs in over 60 countries, DJ Vadim is no stranger to the concept of ‘fan interaction’. Beyond his live shows, Vadim pushes experiments with interaction further, having held a remix contest at ccMixter a little under two years ago to promote his album The Sound Catcher. The contest was a great success, and as a result Vadim, active as both a DJ and producer, is back at ccMixter doing the same thing with his latest album U Can’t Lurn Imaginashun.
The contest is in full swing, with winners receiving inclusion in Imaginashun - Power to the people, an album filled “with remixes from pro’s and bedroom producers from around the world” slated for release this autumn. We caught up with DJ Vadim to learn a bit more about his creative process and how he views the changing nature of interaction and communication in music. Read on to see what he had to say.
Celebrate Earth Day 2009 with one of ccMixter’s star singers, Snowflake. She has challenged the ccMixter community to remix one of her tracks, especially put into the Commons for this event:
“ Apologize”
After all the remixes are posted, Snowflake will pick her favorite remix and include it as a surprise 11th track on her FanClub release “One or Ten” on April 20th. She tells us the remixer will be awarded producer royalties for the track as well.
Best of all, Snowflake will donate $200 to a green friendly non-profit to be chosen by the producer of her favorite “Apologize” remix!

Upload it to ccM + send an email to Spark with a link to your remix. The deadline is April 6th. The show will air April 8th.
from State Shirt,
Over the last couple months, there have been over 70 remixes of State Shirt songs that have been made by people all over the world, and it’s been really cool to hear everyone’s take on the music. Since it’s been going so well, I figured hey why not have another remix contest? more details
If the above video interview of Prof. Lessig on the Colbert Report inspires you to make a brilliant remix, you can find the "acappella" at ccM and when you're done upload it for everyone to enjoy. : )
