CcMixter 2017: The Year In Review

2017 brought in some great remixes that highlighted not only creativity and experimentation, but also expressed through music what is going on in the world around us. Mixters from around the world uploaded songs about love, death, horror, and hope.
There were remixes about climate change, border crossing, and net neutrality. We received
soundtracks, dance tracks, and spoken word tracks. Every one of these uploads has heart and soul from artists that range from beginner to professional. It’s what makes our remix culture great: diversity and acceptance.

Winter Lights, Winter Nights

'Tis the season to be jolly -- or melancholy.  Whether you're green and red, or blue and grey, there are songs on these two albums that will ring your bells, keep you warm and make you smile.  It's our way of sharing the gift of music from the community that remixes the holidays for everyone, Grinch and elves alike.

Winter Lights is an 18 song collection featuring remixes of traditional holiday music and uplifting songs of the season.  Winter Nights is a 13 song collection of remixes that would make Scrooge smile in ironic glee.  Both collections were curated by the staff here at ccMixter, and mastered by ccMixter team member and producer Zep Hurme.  These holiday compilations are available at Jamendo, Bandcamp and Tunetrack.net.

Winter Lights and Winter Nights were compiled from the archives of holiday music that ccMixter artists have generated from previous holiday remix events.  Currently, we are holding this year's remix event "Under The Tree."   If you like what you hear on these albums, be sure to check out the new mixes as they come in (or contribute one!).  And don't forget to get your copies of Season of Gratitude and Peace of Winter to make your winter holiday music collection complete.
