Be a Player

Thanks to the latest updates to ccHost by Victor. It's now possible to embed a flash player into your ccM profile.

Check my profile out. I embedded the code for the button player right below the text in my profile. Here's the code I used:

[query=template=mplayer-button&playlist=1387][/query]

Yes that's it. It's that simple. Another example on my second account. Here I selected the Big Contact player by using this code:

[query=template=big_contact&playlist=1731][/query]

Cool right? : )

MC Chris is having a remix contest. Due August 31.

Wake Up Calls?

I've been in a Space mood lately. I stumbled across this while looking for audio material. Total fluke I swear. This is not CC licensed. : )

Wake-up calls are a long-standing tradition of the NASA program. Each day during the mission, flight controllers in the Mission Control Center greet the crew with an appropriate musical interlude.

Wake Up Calls
from the SS Endeavour back in March. This is from Day 2

Also there are some awesome Endeavour pictures out there too. : )

International Music Score Library Project back on the air

Another piece of good news in the open music world: The International Music Score Library Project, which had been forced shut down under legal threats in October of 2007, has just re-opened.

IMSLP attempts to create a virtual library containing all public domain musical scores, as well as scores from composers who are willing to share their music with the world without charge. You can read the full list of goals that IMSLP will try to achieve at their site.

Help Break the Query API 2.0

Here's the link to the test site. There are new flash embedding goodies but also an opportunity to help the Greater Cause.

6,000 remixes

I like that I can ask the internet questions like "How many minutes are in one week?" and get back answers like:
"1 week = 10,080 minutes".

I sought this intelligence for a simple reason. I noticed on the stats that CCMixter now has over 6,000 remixes uploaded. Given that most songs are at least 3 minutes, and many songs far exceed 3 minutes, that's at least 18,000 minutes of remixes.

In short, we are in striking range of a solid fortnight's worth of remix listening. I like to imagine that my remixes occupy a place near 4:30 a.m., somehow, during the fortnight's continuous play.

I think it would be fun to listen to every remix on CCmixter someday. But at the rate we are expanding, that day might ought to be sooner rather than later!
